Introducing Becera

Welcome to Becera! 

We are a consultancy addressing intractable issues in the information environment, with a focus on mitigating the impact of extremism and polarization which fuel instability and conflict. We work at the intersection of the public and private sectors and aim to create innovative approaches by linking doers across government, private sector, academia, and civil society. 

We started Becera after years of working on challenges like terrorism, extremism, and mis- and disinformation, topics that could be characterized as challenges of human behavior that are exacerbated and amplified by tech. But they’re also challenges influenced by economics, governance, politics, science, health, media, entertainment, and more. 

We believe that mitigating the adverse impact of such challenges requires taking a broad look across industries to understand how information flows and what influences attitudes and behaviors. From conflicts to climate to healthcare to aid to entertainment and beyond, how does information align with reality and how are we reacting?  

Becera embraces a multidisciplinary approach, combining the most promising ideas and applicable experiences in acknowledgement of the fact that the way we take in, apply, and share information is the basis of advancing society. That’s why we’re passionate about addressing the information bubbles that lead to polarization or worse.

If not yet apparent, we dislike silos. Too much of the world around us and the work we do is interconnected to narrowly analyze it through one lens. So in addition to our work, we aim to share snapshots from the topics that inspire us, make us think, or challenge our beliefs.
